Individual Development Plan (IDP)

Individual development plans are a valuable tool throughout a career – as an undergraduate, graduate student, postdoc, early career employee, or an employee with many years of experience. These plans are utilized to help the individual think about interests, goals, and opportunities as they think about their future. It creates a reflective plan that is useful in facilitating a productive discussion regarding the individual’s accomplishments, challenges, and vision of the future. There are many templates available (some linked) and individuals should utilize the template that best meets their needs.
