SouthWinds Farm is a small farm dedicated to growing delicious, healthy foods, using organic and sustainable methods. Our farm runs primarily on solar energy. Located in the San Pedro Valley, near Benson, we strive to provide the freshest, highest quality vegetables and fruit to our customers.
Interns will be expected to assist with all aspects of our farm operation, including bed preparation, seed starting, planting, tending, growing crops, irrigation, harvesting, preparation of produce for the market and work at the farmers’ markets we attend. We expect a minimum of 50 hours of work per week with two days off, not necessarily in sequence. Our two primary harvest days tend to be longer than 8 hours. We are unable to accommodate dogs and cats.
Interns will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of operating and maintaining a sustainable farming operation, including crop selection, planning, CSA operation, marketing, as well as aspects of farm and business planning.
