Full time option (40 hours per week)
Stipend: $600/week

Benefits: AmeriCorps Education Award in the amount of $3,247.50 and a Public Lands Corps Certificate*; both with successful completion of the service term.
Part time option (24 hours per week)

Status: 675 hour AmeriCorps Service Term, Part-time, Seasonal, Exempt

*To be eligible for a Public Lands Corps certificate, members must be between the ages of 18-30, inclusive, at the time the member begins their term of service.
Summary:
Arizona Conservation Corps (AZCC):
Arizona Conservation Corps, a program of Conservation Legacy, aims to continue the legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930’s. AZCC is focused on connecting youth, young adults, and recent area military veterans with conservation service work projects on public lands. AZCC operates programs across Arizona that engage individuals and strengthen communities through service and conservation. AZCC has program offices in Flagstaff and Tucson.
Grand Canyon National Park Tribal Program:
The Grand Canyon Tribal Program facilitates collaboration and coordination with tribal governments and partners on a wide range of programs and issues related to management of Grand Canyon National Park. The Tribal Program facilitates the park’s Intertribal Working Group, a collaborative group that includes representatives from the 11 tribes traditionally associated with Grand Canyon. The Program supports the development of partnerships and programs highlighting indigenous connections to the Grand Canyon such as the Desert View Watchtower Intertribal Cultural Heritage Site.
Position Summary:
These internships provide an opportunity to learn about the National Park Service (NPS), and explore interests related to management of national parks and the Grand Canyon. Interns will work within the Park’s Tribal Program by providing assistance with tribal collaboration and coordination under the direction of the Tribal Program Manager. The interns will complete cross-training with other park programs such as interpretation and education, biology, fisheries, botany, and hydrology to explore NPS career paths. The selected interns can choose to either be based in Flagstaff or at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
Essential Responsibilities and Functions may include:
· Assist Tribal Program with development of park-wide Tribal Relations training program.
· Assist with development of training materials such as presentations.
· Develop individual internship training and development plan.
· Provide administrative support, process invoices, and develop information packets and meeting materials for Intertribal Working Group program.
· Create list of program accomplishments for Intertribal Working Group’s review.
· Shadow Interpretive Rangers and develop public communication program.
· Interns will complete one-week of cross training within the program of their choice, such as wildlife biology, fisheries, park ranger, bison program, etc.
· Create a final assessment of internship, including recommendations for best practices for the Tribal Program at the conclusion of the internship.
Required Skills:
Minimum Qualifications:
· Preference will be given to Native American applicants.
· Enrollment in a four-year college degree seeking program preferred. No specific field of study is necessary.
· Interest in park visitor and resource protection, and interpretation/education.
· Ability to engage and interact with the public in a professional manner.
· Full vaccination against COVID-19 by the first day of employment and ability to provide proof of vaccination before starting.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Strong attention to organization and detail.
· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a range of government and partner organizations.
Physical Requirements:
· Cross training activities will likely require a field component with risks including exposure to uneven terrain, inclement weather, etc.
· To successfully perform essential functions, the individual is required to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, etc.

· Willingness and ability to complete all aspects of the program including conservation projects, education, training, and national service.
· Effectively communicate ideas and concerns as they arise directly to supervisors, colleagues, and organization staff.
· Appropriately represent Arizona Conservation Corps, the National Park Service, and AmeriCorps to the public and partners at all times.
· Live in a physically demanding, possibly remote environment for an uninterrupted period of up to several weeks. Conditions of this environment can vary significantly and may include severe and/or trying weather with difficult access to advanced medical care.
Safety and Judgment:
· Effectively communicate danger to others in the form of either a warning of danger others may be encountering or a notification of personal distress, injury or need for assistance. Must be able to do so at a distance of up to 50 meters and in conditions with limited visibility or loud background noise such as darkness or high winds.
· Effectively perceive, understand, and follow direction by others so that you will be able to successfully execute techniques to manage hazards.
· Stay alert and focused for several hours at a time while traveling and working in varied weather conditions.
· Respond appropriately to stress or crisis.
· If taking prescriptions medications, participants must be able to maintain proper dosage by self-medicating without assistance from others.
